Operations Manager/
Assistant Operations Manager 

Reporting to the Head of Operations in Hong Kong, this position holder needs to advise his/her operations partners on operations standards & practices and the creation and sustainability of the Starbucks Experience for our customers and partners. Coaches a team of District Managers & Store Managers to achieve standards, work closely with the Starbucks HK and AP regional operation team in planning and deploying operations improvement initiatives are also the key scope of this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the head of operations and management to identify, plan and execute opportunities for growth and expansion.

  • Effectively manage the Macau region to ensure overall execution of Operational Excellence and delivery against established key performance indicators, and to ensure that it is adhere to operational compliance requirements. 

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to enhance the service experience for Starbucks partners and customers and increase profitability. 

  • Plan and execute local store marketing strategies with cross-functional teams to increase sales while controlling operational costs and to plan and support opening of new stores according to annual plan.

  • Identify trends and forecast store budgets, monitor and evaluate market performance, monitor field implementation of key and new initiatives, and to provide support to underperforming stores to optimize practices and programs and drive continuous improvement.

  • Work closely with other functional teams including but not limited to Store Development, Marketing, Partner (Human) Resources and Learning to drive results.

  • Provide solutions downward and feedback upward in regarding to marketing, operation and other programs, policies and procedures.

  • Provide coaching, direction and support to a team of District Managers and Store Managers to achieve results in areas of partner, business and customer and to support training and development in Macau.

Requirements:

  • 8 yrs experience in managing multi-unit retail, restaurant or service organizations of which 5 yrs in field management such as district manager

  • Progressive experience with and influencing business partners, financial analysis and P&L responsibility, planning and organizational project management skills

  • Degree in Business Management or relevant discipline is preferred

  • Possess with strong business acumen, analytical and excellent people management skills

  • Communicates effectively in Chinese and English is a must

  • Macau ID holder is preferred

District Manager

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the job holder will lead a team of store managers within an assigned district to achieve business results while creating and maintaining the Starbucks Experience for our customers and partners. You are required to regularly and customarily exercise discretion in managing the overall operation of the stores within your assigned district. Majority of your time is to spend on staffing, coaching, developing and managing the performance of store managers, understanding local customer needs, ensuring district-wide customer satisfaction and product quality, analyzing key business indicators and trends, managing the district's financial performance, and managing safety and security within the district.

Responsibilities:

  • Create district implementation plans based on trend analysis and local market knowledge to ensure effective execution of company initiatives that achieve both operational excellence and business results. Follow up consistently with store managers to ensure accountability to plans.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to enhance the service experience for Starbucks partners and customers and increase profitability of assigned district.

  • Identify trends and forecast store P&L under assigned district.

  • Coach and develop store manager team to attract and select high quality talent for their stores.

  • Utilize management information tools and analyze financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in district performance.

  • Monitor and manage district-wide management staffing levels. Ensure store manager talent acquisition and development to achieve and maintain district operational requirements.

  • Lead the store managers to deliver legendary customer and partner experiences. Spend majority of time in stores observing store environments and operational effectiveness, coaching and developing them to achieve business goals.

  • Utilize existing tools to identify and prioritize communications and filter communications to store managers within the district. Communicate clearly, concisely and accurately to ensure effective operations at the store and district level.

  • Support the Operations Manager in opening of new stores according to annual plan in the assigned district.

Requirements:

  • Post Graduate with major in Business Management or related discipline

  • 5 yrs progressively responsible retail exposure in a complex and fast-paced environment

  • Solid experience in analyzing financial reports and store management

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Self-motivated, independent, able to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese
